The small sanctuary, which was opened near the Basilica in 1961, has been transformed into a centre for understanding the life and works of Marguerite.

This permanent exhibition introduces Marguerite Dufrost de la Jemmerais, the Widow Youville, from her birth in Varennes in 1701 to her death in 1771.

Visitors can learn about the stages of her life and the influence it has had down to our own time, especially through the religious community she founded.

The women and men inspired by Saint Marguerite d'Youville laid the foundations for social and healthcare services throughout Canada.

In 2003, Saint Marguerite d'Youville was made a Laureate in the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame as a Builder.

Hers is a life that is well worth the time spent finding out about it and taking it to heart; it is a life that inspires true pride.
